About Aqualung
Hales started working on Aqualung after leading the 45's and issuing two singles on Universal. The main features of the work were breathy vocals and processed instrumentation alternative rock. This project was popularized by a VW Beetle TV ad featuring his song "Strange and Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)". That coincided with the release of his self-titled debut in 2002.
