About Barry Manilow
Perhaps one of the people who had the most impact in directing and beginning the career of Barry Manilow was none other than Bette Midler herself. Meeting Midler in 1971, Barry Manilow was hired to accompany her in her tour of New York's gay bath houses. She also allowed him to debut some of his originals work at the show she did in Carnegie Hall in 1972.
