After the success of Only the Lonely, his first big break, Roy Orbison would have fifteen top 40 hits between the years 1960 and 1965. at the time, it seemed the Orbison was well equipped to survive the sixties. He had toured with the Beatles, and even John Lennon had admitted to trying to emulate him on their chart-topper, "Please, Please Me."
