The Smashing Pumpkins are first and foremost the face of vocalist, guitarist and leader Billy Corgan. Most of the years that the band was active, Corgan has led James Iha, D'arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlin to some of the alternative rock scene's artistic peaks.
